Re: Laser 1600
Well it's been a while, unfortunately the Capri has not progressed due to other projects including new kitchens, replacing campervans and a pair of Volvo estates taking up my time, they are my daily drivers and at 29 & 25 years old need a little TLC to keep running nicely. On a positive note, ex...

Search FB for Anthony Piggsy Higgs, he makes fibreglass bonnets and is well considered in terms of quality. Drag races a Capri too..

And don't forget that if you pay monthly and later SORN the car, you need to cancel the Direct Debit with the bank, or the DVLA will continue to take your money.

Re: Laser 1600
Had a couple of goes at this to get the wing off, no big issues just lack of time due to prepping a new garage door and work. I managed to drill out all the spot welds along the wing rail and A post by using a 7mm socket on a 1/4" extension to extend the length of the spot weld cutter. Not look...

Re: Laser 1600
Dash out, door off today. Welds at the rear of the wing ground off, just 4 spot welds left back there to drill out. Its had a bit if filler at the bottom, and behind that, rust!!

That looks very nice. Always reckon the RGA front is well balanced with a turbotail on the back.

Re: Laser 1600
After a great run to work and home again, faultless of course, she has now been SORN'd. After removing the bumper and lights etc, I had a session with the grinder, suitably donned with an 80 grip flap disc, and made a start on the drivers wing. Paint and filler stripped from the front piece, it's no...

Re: Laser 1600
Things are moving on, well sort of, she's out of the garage! Today was all about bolts. It took an hour to remove 2 bolts from the Volvo, one of which ended up with a drill out and re-tap. Next up, removing the bonnet catch from Debs. The securing screws were soaked in WD40 a month ago, and with a b...

Me neither, and a bit of internet digging suggests the same, so I'll take that approach. Who knows, maybe within a year that flywheel I collected from you will be in use!!

Re: Laser 1600
Can't believe it's been that long since Debs had any attention. The Volvo (Grace) is now pretty sorted and serving her purpose. Pretty she is not, but I'll tidy her in time. Meanwhile, the spare room is now housing a pair of pattern wings for Debs. Before I strip the current ones off I'm going to st...

Re: Laser 1600
Well it's been a while. Lots going on so the car has seen little action. I got tired of driving my T5 campervan to work and using it to ferry DIY crap around as it was getting to the point where there would be damage (8x4 ply sheets in the back and lightweight ply furniture don't mix). So I decided ...

Re: Mark 4
What is it Paul, I`m guessing some kind of driverless taxi? Normally run on a track. Until they come pitching off the rails in an orgy of screaming, crashing down into a crowded departure lounge, where the malfunctioning electronic brain sends a feedback wave to the lithium ion battery, the resulti...

Re: Future Classics
I suspect the whole modified / restomod classic scene will rapidly start to change from the current Zetec and V8 transplants over to DIY electric installations. No doubt there are already people out there experimenting with using different battery types and a few extra windings on standard motors t...

Re: North London in the dead of night
Often the best part of my day, cycling into Heathrow at 0500hrs. Quiet roads, and you see and hear so much more than when driving. That said I took the Laser to work on New Years day night shift which was also nice

Interesting engine mods, many do the FR32 cam without the valve enlargement, be interested to know what sort of increase it delivers?

Re: Walton Bridge Breakfast Club
Well I didn't make it in the car, too late and the roads were wet. I did get along on the bike, and saw 1 Capri as I rode past (DDK prefix) and another passed me in Chertsey High Street D551 (I think). Also had a very nice Lotus Turbo Esprit slow right down on the Old Shepperton bypass then give it ...

Re: Diff Oil change
Not at all, there`s a filler plug on the passenger side of the differential casing, you can see it just behind the exhaust pipe, it`s either a 10 or 11mm square drive but if it`s not too chewed up a 3/8" ratchet will fit: https://i.postimg.cc/GpzxnHjq/2009-0129exhaustss0036.jpg And do please m...

More shiny bits, very nice indeed. Be interesting to see how the engine mods work out as I'm looking to play with the 2.0 pinto lump I have to put into mine.

Re: Walton Bridge Breakfast Club
Any more details on this one for exact location etc or is it that car park and cafe I can see on google maps? Assuming the location on Google maps is the car park with the café, that's the place. They also have a Facebook page. It's generally always busy, certainly the last couple of meets I've pas...
