Hi Jim, You wrote, Almost sounds like something small rattling and ticking about in the bell housing. Many years ago, I had a similar problem with a Ford F 250 (1970s vintage), which was caused by the clutch friction plate. The " steel fingers" connecting the centre torsion spring holder t...

Re: Engine removal - All bases covered?

Remove the engine - remove the bonnet.
It saves a lot of hassle.
It's not rocket science to realign a bonnet and, as others have noted, mark the alignment before removing.

Re: Big hesitation.

If yours still has the standard single barrel VV type carb as fitted to most non S 1.6 Capris then this isnt worth fixing. An opportunity to swap to a good used 32/36 Weber & manifold. Better reliability and bhp for very little money.

This sounds like a good fix to me.

Re: Gunky Oil

Hi D366Y, I tend to agree with andyd that the problem could be simply condensation. Is the engine running OK and the water temp. normal? Are you losing oil or water? Before going to the trouble and cost of changing a head gasket and dropping the sump I would do a few simple things. - inspect the coo...

Hi Jumper, https://postimg.cc/bS1N4mtR https://postimg.cc/zVDjz6x6 I hope these help. All the best PS This shows how my son and I solved this problem. The centre section is welded to the side sections by using two 20mm dia. lengths of steel tubing. This set up should give you the strength, the front...

Hi Wicked93gs;
This may seem a daft question nevertheless, here goes,
Surely there must be an upholsterer in the USA that could redo the seats for you, isn't there?

All the best

Re: Weber 34 ICH

Hi there.

The carb may be "brand new" but has it been sat on a shelf for a long time?

When the engine is running and starts "overfuelling" try gently tapping the side of the carb to see if that solves it.
A simple test/fix which costs nothing. :D

Re: Trouble Bleeding Brakes following MC Rebuild

Hi EightyFive, I’m in the process of overhauling an “ATE” master cylinder which is slightly different to the one described in the Laser Page however, they must be similar in operation. You say, After a few pumps there felt like some resistance, followed by a ‘dong’ sound, in any case it didn’t feel ...

Thanks for the prompt reply Steve. (It was a semi-rhetorical question.) :D It can`t be that hard can it? That's the way I see it, after all it's only four UNF bolts and an O-ring. the fluid channel between the 2 halves *may* leak after reassembly On the other side, if the caliper is split to replace...

M16 brake calipers

M16 Bake Calipers,

Hi folks.
Does anyone know the reason why the brake calipers on a Capri shouldn't be split?

Thanks in advance.
