Re: Leaking petrol when full tank
I see that new tanks can be bought but they are not cheap. Also the tank for the injection is different from other Capri models (it would be wouldnt it). Anyone know the difference? Does one have a return and not the other?

Re: Leaking petrol when full tank
Ok cheers, that would make sense. I'll check that area then. I assume the only way to know is to drop the tank down.

Leaking petrol when full tank
Hi guys Filled the tank of my Injection the other day and car smelled of petrol. Seems there is a leak and particularly when going round a right hand bend as fuel leaks to passenger side of car. I'm going to get under the car (with a bright candle obviously) to have a good look. Anything I should be...

Re: Temp gauge not working 2.8 injection
I did see that sometime ago but where I Don’t remember as I have falken Tyres the same as John . I've got Falkens at the moment. It's a shame that they don't do them anymore as they seem like a really good tyre. Well, they are black and round, so that's good enough for me! :D I think next time I'll...

Re: Temp gauge not working 2.8 injection
thanks for the feedback guys, I have the "correct" sender coming from Martin so hopefully all will be well once fitted. Have also ordered a new set of tyres. 205/60 R13s are hard to get now it seems. Nankang do some but are crap from what I have read so got a nice set of Vredestein Sprint ...

Maybe it's because a lot of us were teenagers in the 1980s and grew up eating McDonald's, fundus crispy pancakes and fray bentos pies

Re: Moving drivers seat backwards
Its likely there could be something obstructing the full travel of the runner. Have you checked its length of travel against another Capri - or against the passenger seat ? Yep passenger seat the same so must be standard. The seat slider is in line with the back of the rail when fully back. I just ...

Re: Temp gauge not working 2.8 injection
So this is wrong for the 2.8i? https://www.burtonpower.com/water-temperature-sender-oe-gauge-ford-capri-v6-2-8-81-87-xtt45.html As Martin says, yes it is wrong. Does your car even have a female spade connector on the sender wire? It would have been a female bullet connector when new. You can either...

Re: Temp gauge not working 2.8 injection
ok, so new sender arrived today. Its from Burton Power specific for the 2.8i (black with blade connector). Fitted and ran engine until hoses hot. The gauge has moved! Only slightly though, not enough to even reach the first sold white line. This is just with the car in the garage and idling with som...

Re: Moving drivers seat backwards
cheers guys, I think I will take the seat out and have a good look to see that the seat is sliding all the way back on the runners. If there is something stopping the seat going back further than the runner I could always remove it and add another stop further along to add a couple of inches. I'm su...

Re: Moving drivers seat backwards
Well the seat slides back and then stops dead. I reckon the back of the seat bracket is in line with end of the floor rail if that makes sense ie the seat doesn't overhang the floor mounted rail. Is this correct? Maybe I should undo the four floor bolts and see how the sliding mechanism works. With ...

Re: Temp gauge not working 2.8 injection
Thanks Andrew, I'll no doubt be posting on here regularly with lots of questions lol
Spoke to supplier Burton Power who have been very helpful and they are posting me another sender. If that doesn't work is there anything else it could possibly be?

Moving drivers seat backwards
Being 6ft I find the drivers seat, even when slid back to maximum, does not give me a comfortable driving position. Ideally I would like the seat to go back another couple of inches.
Anyone made any adjustments to do this and if so how did you do it?

Temp gauge not working 2.8 injection
Hi All New to the forum having just bought my first Capri, a 1982 2.8 injection. The temp gauge isn't working. If I earth the single temp sender wire to the base of the sender the gauge goes to maximum. The gauge therefore works and the wiring is fine. I have ordered and fitted a new sender. Still n...
