Hi,
This is a great article, yes you are quite correct, the fuel pump relay often just has dry soldering joints on it. Most people just swap them and chuck the old one away but as you say they can be easily repaired with a soldering iron.

Re: Esso Fuel - No Ethanol
Am I right in thinking it’s mainly rubber fuel components ethanol attacks? Or does it do the nylon fuel lines as well?

NO WAY!
You'd just be better off wearing a mask for the time being and having the windows open.

Re: 2.8i cutting out won’t run
Iirc the earth for the pump is a self tapping screw and eye crimp located under the boot floor. It may be worth cleaning this up in case you have a high resistance point there.

Re: Handbrake cable
Just my thoughts as I`m still on OE cable, and TBH can`t remember the last time I adjusted it, but if it suddenly loosens, that sounds more like trhe thread is actually `jumping` a thread or 2 under load rather than slipping round/ unwinding. Isn`t it a nylon assembly (in which case that`s not impo...

https://i.postimg.cc/Cz5YkG1z/66719-DD3-1-B7-C-441-B-A487-18-BF816-B9938.jpg Hi This is what I’ve had to do. Basically the locknut at the bottom stays locked by castlations between the main section and the locknut. That’s all that’s stopping it from undoing. When under load I imagine these castlati...

Re: Handbrake cable
Hey Andrew and Martin Thanks for the replies. Not at all Andrew, what’s your method? It’s a QH part (regrettably but I’m not aware of any other choices). What I’m experiencing is the locknut appears to jump a thread and thus relax the cable. It doesn’t happen instantly, it’s taken about 2000 miles s...

Handbrake cable
I keep having issues with the handbrake cable adjuster suddenly unscrewing when under load. This has happened several times now. I’ve put it down to a crap aftermarket part but wondered if anyone else was having the same trouble and what you did to solve it? The adjuster at the lever end just keeps ...

Re: Are these legit electrical connections?
Hi.
Pic 1 as per the factory. I’ve taken a few apart and found those splices in exactly the same place and colour, so can only assume that’s the case.
The bottom pick is blatantly someone else’s doing

Re: Coolant
Thanks for the replies. I had no idea about the two not mixing well. Thankfully I’ve had the heater out and back flushed , rad out etc so fully drained everything as a result. I found the pink stuff was starting to sludge slightly over this winter hence all the effort. Also have heard pink is way to...
Coolant
Hi all. Can anyone recommend a supplier or make of coolant for my 2.8? I’ve been using OAT pink by mistake for years, I’m about to do the yearly check over etc prior to getting her out from hibernation and the coolant needs changing. I know now it needs to be IAT blue stuff. Any suggestions? I was h...

Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems
In the video at the bottom of the carb there’s an inlet/outlet of some sort. Right by the manifold gasket. Shouldn’t that have some sort of hose or blank off on it? Might be running lumpy due to excessive air?
It’s quite big, like servo vacuum size.. mind you I’d not expect it to run like that

Re: Injector collars stuck!
Hi Mine were stuck hard and fast too. They are only rubber believe it or not. I blocked the port up with some blue paper towel. I felt if that fell in then it wouldn’t last long. I used a small screwdriver to carefully lever the remains away. They came apart in pieces and it was painstaking. The key...

We had a girl in my office a few years ago who, when relating stories, would say "so I turned round and said ... " (sorry about the ellipsis!) She must have been dizzy from the number of times she turn around in a conversation with her mates. haha! I knew someone who spoke that way , I told h...

I would say my biggest pet hate is “I was like...”. It is absolutely everywhere. I’ve noticed if you chew gum you are particularly prone to it. Example being “Tanyaaaaahhh kissed my boyfriend, I was like well angry..” etc I’ve noticed the beeb news online quoting people who say it, hardly helps to e...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable
Interesting problem you got there. Yes I see your point. Are the adjusters the same on all mk3 models? I thought they were but then surely they’d need to be different for the different drum sizes. Is it worth getting 2 second hand adjusters from Martin at Capri gear that are correct for the size las...
