Essex Capri Owners Meet - May, July, Sept
Hello Fellow Essex Capri Owners, When I saw some of you last year, probably to drop with you a poster of the Dunton Capri birthday or maybe an email with you, I said to you that I would find if there is a local gathering for us Capri folk or did that all disintegrate some time back. If there is noth...

Re: SEP 1, 2019 @ DUNTON, FORD – THE EVENT YOU ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF
Sorry folks that I have not been on here to contribute much just recently. Too much time consumed sorting out stuff and also answering a lot of questions on FB. First out - thank you to all of you on here who are contributing to the show and have entered. I am sure that most of you have picked up a ...

Re: SEP 1, 2019 @ DUNTON, FORD – THE EVENT YOU ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF
We now have as many as 20 of the ex SVE team coming and they will mingle with the Capri owners, help each one find another 20-30 horses (stuff that you don't find in the Haynes - stuff you only find under testing) and all that good stuff. Also, we will have some tales from them - what they did, cars...

Re: Brooklands 50th Attendance
best of luck with the op on your old boy  Now that is a compromising position! Perhaps time to shut up before there are more compromised positions. That's fair enough Andrew. Dunton isn't probably that much further on from Booklands as you may think, certainly across the distance you ar...

Re: Brooklands 50th Attendance
Andy D / Nige / Andrew / Nick - you have all stated that you will only attend Brooklands if dry (that's the only reason I have highlighted you 4 from the rest). I don't know how many of you have placed yourself down for Dunton - and this thread is not to pinch some people from one to go to the other...

Re: SEP 1, 2019 @ DUNTON, FORD – THE EVENT YOU ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF
Good afternoon folks - been a long time since I posted on here - even on this thread. I am pleased to report that the numbers have just been steadily plodding away, as we have seen people enter into this event. We are up to nearly 170 Capris now booked in and I am aware of 20/25 who have yet to ente...

Re: SEP 1, 2019 @ DUNTON, FORD – THE EVENT YOU ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF
Hello People - a few announcements. The first one is that the £8 early bird deal is close to the end. This is £8 for driver and all occupants for this event until 30th April. That's £2 each if a Capri 2+2 load. £1.60 each if a Capri 2+3 load (is that possible ???). £1 each if you are completely mad ...

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook
Yes that is correct. The RS2000 2.0L and the Scorpio / Galaxy 2.3L lumps from the 1990's were the same family all derived from Mazda. The story behind why they didn't shove the 2.3L into the Escort and just develop 180bhp from tuned components, instead of the more measily (but well engineered 2.0L d...

Re: Project Carla 820
Thanks Nick. Yes, it is all starting to come together. About time - should have been done when I took over the car 15 years ago. So apart from some mechanical bits - rear springs / shocks as they have never been replaced and a few other bits - that's it in terms of tidying up for the time being. A r...

Re: SEP 1, 2019 @ DUNTON, FORD – THE EVENT YOU ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF
I have just heard that we have now beaten the 50 Capris marker entering into this event. We are now at 57 Capris parked on the track! This is fantastic people. In just 8 weeks since I announced it as well! I am really pleased we got to 50. My hope is for 100. So we have not got far to get there. Tha...

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook
Oh yes - I love all of that stuff. I had a Monza and the evolution from that was a Carlton GSi, from the same family, or one of these. I missed on both unfortunately and went down the Jap path instead. That was about 20 yrs ago. Years later, I did have the Scorpio - the ugly one - but the styling wa...

Is CCI website down again...
Or have they just barred me ?
I can't seem to get on the site - if just holds and then says it's down.
I do need some bits.
I'll call Sally if need be. But just wondered if any of you have recently tried.

Re: Project Carla 820
Thanks Jason. The bodykit will be removed because I don't like it. It was fine when placed on 30 yrs ago - all the rage back then. Looks a bit stupid today and doesn't do the car justice, IMHO. You'll see what I mean on my opening post / video. Anyway, all the exterior is for another year - not too ...

Re: Project Carla 820
It looks like the rust had stated on the inside did you treat before fitting the new clips ? No I didn't, Jason. That's for the next big project. Kit off and see what mess the whole sill is in. I though there was little point in me fiddling on a minor scale now when the whole thing is being pulled ...

So next - brand new seat bolts to fasten my brand new seats down. Re: Project Carla 820
And now to place them all on. What I did was carefully prise off the old clips with a screwdriver. Then smother the new clip in grease, cover the weld seam where they grip also in grease, makes sure it grabs the loom properly and then push down on the clip onto the seam. The process is simple, just ...
