Re: ARB Bushes

I may need a footballers lawyer for that ! The inner bush tubes were 42.2 which is how they should be so all good there. I'll get the problem ones back this week so will keep you posted. Thanks all.

Re: ARB Bushes

Hello everyone. Well I've found the problem. The stainless bush tubes are 35.3 mm long instead of being 30mm and the thrust washers are 3mm thick. If they should be 2.5mm as suggested it all adds up to being6.3 mm too much overall. The tubes are the same length as the poly bushes so there is zero co...

Re: ARB Bushes

Hello all. I've just read all your comments/input and really appreciate it. Tomorrow is the day i'm taking it off to have a look. In the week it looked like the tubes were too long by about 5mm but that was a rough check with a rule, I will know for sure soon. Also, thanks for washer information too...

Re: ARB Bushes

Hello nemo. Yes, thats exactly how i see it, tube plus washers can only compress until they all touch. My only querie now is does the spacer tube fit inside the hole in the washers on the original or butt up to it.. Mine butts up so you get 30.5 plus two washer thicknesses plus the flat of the hex n...

Re: ARB Bushes

Hello Andrew. The tubes are what came with the kit. I'm not sure what make so will have to dig the receipt out to have a look. It's been a while since i fitted them and only now getting around to the problem solving. I tried uploading a photo but had difficulty so will try again tonight. I'm going t...

Re: ARB Bushes

Hello Peter, thanks for the reply. I think the problem is that the kit came with stainless steel inner tube bushes with are a fixed length. Whichever way the dished washers go they will only go on until they hit these tubes and will therefore go no further. I assume the originals didn't have inner t...

Re: Battery leads

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yes, the positive i rigged up is a larger gauge than normal and doing the job, i will just route it neatly and discreetly. When i re wound the loom with new loom tape i moved the ignition wires to the battery so they are sorted. I now know where to bolt the negatives...

Re: Battery leads

Thanks for that Paul. I should have asked this question before i painted the engine bay !!!. Its staying where it is now then and i'll route the positive across the front body member and back along the chassis leg to the starter . It works that way ok now. Where would the negative be bolted to on th...

Battery leads

Hello. Well, my project was originally an automatic but when i got it the bloke had started to convert to a manaul type 9 box. My question is , was the auto starter motor on the drivers side or the passenger side. I know the battery was on the drivers side on the auto so what route did the positive ...

Re: Haynes Manual

Thanks for the replies guys and the diagrams Andrew. I will have to stick with the Clockwork Orange ones then, they do look good. As to gleaning other Mk 3 info in general from the manual I suppose it's hit and miss. Would the Autodata for the Mk3 be any better I wonder.

Haynes Manual

O.K. then, we've all got the Haynes Manual for the Capri 2 ( including series 3 ) 74 to 87. The question is how to tell what actually applies to the series 3 then, especially with the wiring diagrams. Thanks, Steve.

Re: Key to starter

Hi Andrew, thanks for the reply. I have all the diagrams from Clockwork Orange and they are really good. My confusion though is that on the two circuit diagrams for fuse 6 and 7 it shows the black and yellow going to fuse 6 ( be it from what i assume is position 2 though as numbered ). The only blac...

Key to starter

Hi every one. Well having thought i had sorted the conversion of my Auto loom to Manual loom i have hit a problem. I think i have soldered the wire supplying the starter during cranking ( Ignition position 3 ) to the wrong supply ( its permanently live ). My question is - does the wire from the igni...

Re: Starter to coil

Thanks for that Steve. So, when the starter is cranking it supplies the coil with power, when it stops cranking it stops providing power and the coil has it's own (lower) voltage power from the ignition system to keep the car running. Would that be the case. Also, where does the twin green cable pus...

Starter to coil

Hi everyone. My question is this . On the 2.0Ltr Laser does the black and yellow wire from the starter to the coil ( both push on rubber headed plugs ) do just that, go from the starter to the coil, or is there another feed joined to it somewhere in the loom. The coil can't just get it's power from ...
