Re: Moving on but still part of the blue oval club

I haven’t had a Capri for years now but I do have an XR4i so we can park around the corner together! 8-) Although I need to get it back on the road first....

Re: New Ford on my driveway

Interesting results! It would be interesting to know what map it’s running to produce such a small power increase but all that extra torque, especially as the guys were happy with how it was running. You’d think there was something amiss somewhere but clearly not. The MK2 ST is a great car, I really...

A couple of nice Escorts....

Maybe that’s an understatement! In the process of getting soaked at RSOC National Day at Donnington Park last Sunday I managed to snap these two together (they’re RS 1700T’s in case anybody doesn’t know). I’ve seen them both before and the ‘TeamSpan’ car on the right is a show circuit regular but I’...

Re: Inlet manifold

Yes they’ll be fine. Interesting that Nige had trouble sealing his new manifold and had to use two gaskets; maybe that is the way to go after all!

Re: Inlet manifold

Good old 8.8 (tensile strength) mild steel are perfect. Check what you bought though because if they’re from a diy store they may not be 8.8 and may if fact be made of polystyrene....

As for the gasket, personally I’d use a new one, and I do mean ONE; gaskets on top of gaskets aren’t a good idea!

So bypass the ballast wire and use a 12v coil may be the easiest solution(?)

Re: Ballast Resistor

If you can’t see it then possibly not as some electronic ignition systems don’t require one at all if I remember correctly. Also, (if my memory serves me correctly - it’s years since I played with Capris!) some electronic setups require a higher capacity coil so it may be worth looking at that too.

It’s ceramic coating or nothing; paint is a waste of time on manifolds. And cylinder heads in my experience....

Re: CRaP 2018

Another great weekend, thanks and well done to Peter for organising it and to everybody who came along. It was good to meet some new people and some who I for one hadn’t seen for years. The weather was seriously hot but the pub was a bit cooler and seeing England go through to the semis was the icin...

Over on FocusRSOC I usually get ads for ‘mature ladies’ wanting to chat (the ads actually use the term ‘dirty MILFS’ lol).... At least it reminds me that I’m young(ish)!

well 100% fail rate. they just shut themselves down in the middle of traffic so unlucky ain't the word. I did think about the Zetec, however that would mean bike carbs and engine management. And sadly i don't have 0000s to spend on her.... House hunting... Was hoping to get her on the road speed is...

I have a 5 Series company car, it’s black with the chrome trim, perhaps the ultimate tosser-mobile  . I drove into a restaurant carpark last week and genuinely didn’t realise that it was a one-way system until it was too late, you didn’t need to be a mind reader to know what people were thinkin...

Bit of a strange one this.... :headscratch:

So the only new components are the rubbers. Some of the holes in the rubbers look like they are off-set. Are they definitely the correct bushes and are they fitted in the correct locations?

Re: An annoying new "feature" of modern cars.

They’re called kerb lights and yes, they are pretty pointless. I seem to notice them mostly on VAG products and Mercs.

They’re not nearly as annoying as electronic parking brakes though!

Re: FWD CAPRI ANYONE?

The Probe didn't set the world on fire either, and that was so polite as a car it couldn't possibly offend anyone. I think the mass-market for a medium sized coupe was very much reduced by the late 80s. Hence however good the Probe / Cougar / Calibra had been, they were destined to be niche sellers...
