Progress

An interesting matchup (forgive my American!): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=djaDAAP_Hac There are two ways of looking at this and it probably depends on what you expect to happen. 1. The 25 year old Cosworth does well to nearly keep up with a brand new hot hatch. 2. The ST does well to outrun a hom...

Re: My New Daily

I’ve always thought these are interesting cars, never owned one myself but I know a couple of people who have. As already suggested, change the oil (very) regularly, dirty oil really does kill them. I believe they benefit from a bit of enthusiastic driving every so often as well which is good. One o...

Re: Any thoughts on the new Ford Capri idea

I do wonder if the SUV trend will last, the school-run-mum image isn’t for everyone and may become a bit naff over time (with any luck!).... I keep waiting for the fashion to end too, like people carriers did, remember them?! Vaguely, I think Ford made one called the Galaxy or something.... I...

Re: Any thoughts on the new Ford Capri idea

I thought this was going to be called ‘Model-E’ following a legal battle between Ford and Tesla over the use of that name which Ford won. Unless that’s something else they have in the pipeline. I really don’t get the SUV trend, I occasionally get an X1 or a Q3 as a courtesy car and I find them awful...

Re: Nissan Qashqai v Lamp Post

I saw an X3 with the front end destroyed and a front strut ripped out this morning.... In a 20 zone.... It had hit a steel railing separating the road and pavement, if that hadn’t been there it would have be parked in Costa Coffee! I just looked at it and thought ‘how’?!?!

Re: Ford Sierra £80k.!!

An RS500 definitely sold for £115k not long back, I’m not sure if that’s the record but it’s certainly approaching it. The Heritage Edition Focus RS was a great investment, they appreciated at least £20k as soon as they were driven (or trailered) off the forecourt: https://www.rsdirectbristol.co.uk/...

Re: I'm posting this with a heavy heart.

As much as I love collecting cars, they are taking up too much space and I am struggling to keep up with the everyday basics such as cleaning and maintaining the house so something has to give. I will be getting rid of my collection. My partner will be so happy :D Below is a list of what's availabl...

Re: Fuel Pipes & Braided Brake Hoses?

Peter is correct, you want SAE J30 R9 hose for maximum safety. I’m not sure what Capri you have but it's suitable for fuel injection systems too.

New head gasket & stem seals fitted, pulled the stat out too. Small split in the boost pipe though so needs some tlc.

Re: A new classic

An often very overlooked car with big bang for bucks is the Vauxhall VXR8. 6.0 or 6.2 Corvette V8 with standard 425 BHP and easily tuned to 600+ or more if supercharged. Expensive to run like all the big V8's talked about previously but a good example can be bought for less than an average 2.8i Cap...

Re: Air Tools & Compressors?

The first one is definitely too small. SGS sell the second one as part of a painting kit so it should be ok although I suspect it will be near its limit reading the specs. I hate air tools, much prefer electric. Are you using a drill for wire brushing? If so use cheap a one as it ruins them in no ti...

Re: A new classic

I seriously considered getting a Mustang GT but the length is an issue as like Andy my garage isn't that deep. It's also a very different car to the Focus RS. I think with the Mustang you get a sense of occasion even on mundane journeys, and having driven one on track they are actually very capable,...
