How was it for you?

Did everybody enjoy themselves at Molesworth?

We had a great time, it was good to see everybody again. See you all next year!

Re: Fuel Pipes & Braided Brake Hoses?

Peter is correct, you want SAE J30 R9 hose for maximum safety. I’m not sure what Capri you have but it's suitable for fuel injection systems too.

New head gasket & stem seals fitted, pulled the stat out too. Small split in the boost pipe though so needs some tlc.
Last minute again then Nige

Re: A new classic

An often very overlooked car with big bang for bucks is the Vauxhall VXR8. 6.0 or 6.2 Corvette V8 with standard 425 BHP and easily tuned to 600+ or more if supercharged. Expensive to run like all the big V8's talked about previously but a good example can be bought for less than an average 2.8i Cap...

Re: Air Tools & Compressors?

The first one is definitely too small. SGS sell the second one as part of a painting kit so it should be ok although I suspect it will be near its limit reading the specs. I hate air tools, much prefer electric. Are you using a drill for wire brushing? If so use cheap a one as it ruins them in no ti...

Re: A new classic

I seriously considered getting a Mustang GT but the length is an issue as like Andy my garage isn't that deep. It's also a very different car to the Focus RS. I think with the Mustang you get a sense of occasion even on mundane journeys, and having driven one on track they are actually very capable,...

Re: A new classic

It has to be said I do adore the look of the current Mustang. With the styling and finish Ford have managed to make it downright prestigious as well as somehow every inch a Mustang, even though like Dr Who the car changes with every incarnation. Hang on, paint it green and give it a different name,...

As this is Rant and Rave....

Is anybody else disgusted at how the MP Mark Field is being treated? I'm sat watching the news and he's being demonised by just about everybody, with some equating his actions to those who commit violence against women in general. Some prat has just asked how victims of domestic violence must feel w...

Re: diesel engine in a capri? discuss

Not for me I’m afraid, it would shift in a straight line but I’m not sure how much fun it would be. My local BMW garage loaned me a 330d when my 5 Series was in for a recall, and whilst the torque was fun for a while the novelty soon wore off. It wasn’t a drivers car by any means. I’d be interested ...

It looks like the byproduct of a three way liaison between a Capri, an Audi A7 and a BMW X6!

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook

I know what you mean, I missed out on the MK1 Focus RS and bought a nearly new MK2 ST instead; what was I thinking?!?! Although to be fair I had an ST170 at the time so I fancied the latest model rather than swapping one Imperial Blue Focus for another (albeit quicker and more special) one.... Inter...

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook

@Daz-RSK they are certainly pretty rare these days, and I can’t actually remember seeing one at any of the shows we attend, including Ford Fair. I’ll certainly hang onto it, it’s good to hear from somebody who is enthusiastic about the 24v Granada, cheers! 8-)

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook

You’re right the 24v Granada is very underrated. It’s actually one of my favourite cars in original form, so much so I bought one back in 2010 for a couple of hundred quid.... http://www.fordcapriforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=36563&hilit=Granada+24v It lives on, albeit it needs a full restora...

Re: Capri Spotted on TV

Well spotted and what a good picture , I wonder where they were ? As Nick correctly pointed out, they were in a barn! I can't remember what part of the country though, sorry. It was quite an interesting episode as Henry actually selected a car from the barn as one of his items to restore. It was a ...
