1.6 LS for sale and two ford Taunus'

Hi all, I've got a 1.6 LS project for sale. The car turns over at the key but doesn't fire. Has some holes in the floor and the paint isn't good! The cars interior is stripped but the dash and steering wheel are all untouched and the dash is un cracked. Almost everything that was unbolted is basic a...

Re: My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

Once you've fitted it all back together it will need a few pumps of the brake pedals and clicking the handbrake up and down a few times so it can adjust itself to the correct position - not sure if you've done that already? Hi, Done that and taken it for a test drive. All seems fine but not much di...

Re: My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

Hi all, Thanks for all the help so far. I was able to take both the rear drums off today and the hand brake mechanism was very stiff. took it all apart and cleaned it up, lubricated and re installed. I noticed when connecting the handbrake wire to the back of the driverside drum, i had to pull it to...

Re: My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

What you need to do is to get somebody who can show you how to do the job properly, why not the examiner who has failed them? I'm not at all comfortable about people just "having a go" at something that if it failed could easily end up being fatal Get yourself a workshop manual and read i...

Re: My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

Brutal and direct maybe but honestly you set yourself up for it. Anything safety related should always be fixed properly - NOT simply given a "quick fix" in order to gain a MOT pass. It isn't a long job to do properly after all. Then won't someone please tell me why to do! I was told ever...

Re: My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

The emissions thing is easy...follow the instructions (I've put on here before) for setting the idle mixture, it will then pass. The brakes issue is different. Think for a moment what you are saying. Your car has failed the MOT test for it's braking ability. That means it is unsafe to be on the roa...

My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

Hi, So after having my Capri laser in the lock up for the last 6 months it was time to take it for an MOT and it failed on a few things that I didn't expect. It failed on... Re: Is my exhaust Legal? MOTable?

It would be interesting to know what difference to performance and economy the absence of back pressure would make. I can't comment on economy as I haven't really done enough miles in it since to gauge that properly. In terms of performance, It drives better than ever... I used to have a aftermarke...

Is my exhaust Legal? MOTable?

Hello all, I've been messing around with my exhaust, trying to find the coolest format and note. I found it in the form of a short straight pipe. From the down pipe I've got a 1m pipe going straight back and then a angled end pipe which directs the exhaust to the ground. There are no heat issues or ...

Will these fit?

I've decided to take my recaro interior out as its getting battered. Will these fit? I will make brackets, more talking about the width and hight etc. I can't measure my Mk3 as its at the garage! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-BB6-Reclining-Sports-Bucket-Seats-Black-Alcantara-Suede-Universal-Runner...

A garage won't give me my money back.

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this. So about 6 months ago my car needed extensive work. Not the Capri. The car needed about 3-3.5k spending on it. This was the cheapest quote I got. The build required £1,800 worth of parts. So they said to take on the job they would need a down payment ...

My Electrics are a mess - 'shortcuts' to make my engine run.

Hi all, So I just bought another 2.0 laser. It was very very cheap and I really only bought it for as I needed a couple of parts for mine from it, sun roof handle, spare wheel wood cover and a set of seats so I can take out my Recaros to stop them getting wear. Yes the whole capri was cheaper than b...

Re: Custom exhaust advice for a pinto.

Wow! That's quite some modification. I am sure people have done this in the past. Actually, I am not sure why people dismiss this on the pinto's. It's not really a mod that hits you in the face and is more subtle than probably many other mods. So I like where you are going. I also think it modernis...

Custom exhaust advice for a pinto.

Hi, My 86 2.0 pinto Capri currently has a single exit sported exhaust system. It sound good in the low revs but fades. I want something obnoxiously loud.... Before anyone gets annoyed, let me explain! I have a low millage 3.0. Unrestored and immaculate. That is my 'show car' and entertains my love o...

Re: Pinto won't fire, it's got spark but no fuel

Try to blowing back from the pump to tank to check if it’s blocked if it’s not Check the petrol pips for perishesing or take pipe of carb crank engine then Look if petrol comes out I took the pipe from the fuel pump off and nothing was coming out, as if the fuel pump wasn't pulling anything through...

Pinto won't fire, it's got spark but no fuel

So the other day I started my 2.0 pinto Capri (1986) up. Usually when I start it up I hold the revs a tiny bit until it gets a bit warmer. This time i didn't and started dusting the car off while it was running. Then it died, I started it again and it died soon after. Now it just turns over and does...
